Captain’s Log: Star Date August 10, 2013 – The Cleveland Flea at Sterle’s

By Marie of Carter Paige Vintage Blog  For the past month I’ve been getting ready to set up shop at The Cleveland Flea. I’m sure that many of you have seen my abundance of posts encouraging you all to check it out. I can’t even begin to tell you what a great event it is…if you’ve been there then you know. If you haven’t been there yet, let me just take a moment to tell you why it’s so great. Let’s start with the person behind the Cleveland Flea, the amazing Stephanie Sheldon.  Stephanie is the curator, marketer, event coordinator, designer, supporter etc…of the Flea. You get the picture, she does it all, with the help of some pretty great interns.

Okay, so we established that Stephanie is the one who got this ball rolling and works tirelessly to put this event together but it is absolutely necessary to mention the talented vendors.  There is a lot of pride and care that goes into setting up a shop at the Cleveland Flea and the vendors put their heart and soul into making your experience a great one. This is no ordinary Flea Market, it’s…are you ready for my corniness?… a work of art.

I’m serious, there are some very creative Clevelanders out there folks…so watch out! If you’re looking for beautiful hand crafted jewelry that rivals some of the most well-known designers, you’ll find it at the Flea. Want some unique creative jewelry made from scrabble tiles? then you really need to check out Jen’s Scooby Snacks.

Are you a foodie?  A vegan?  Well, not only will you find some mouth-watering bites from the different food trucks, you’ll also find the creamiest ice cream with the most ah-mazing flavors, thanks to the talents of  Mason’s Creamery  (their Cleveland Whiskey is my personal favorite, of course I haven’t tried all the flavors, but I’ve made it my personal mission–it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make).

Mouth watering yet? Oh wait,  I haven’t even mentioned the refreshing popsicles by PopSmith, with flavors like raspberry basil, and blueberry lavender lemon to name a few.

While you’re walking around discovering all the wonderful artisans for yourself, you’re bound to get thirsty, which means you’re probably going to want to stop and get a beer or the best Bloody Mary ever from Sterle’s Country House.

Once you’re ready to stop and quench your thirst, you have to have a pretty cool glass to drink it from so head on over to the Blastmaster’s tent. There you’ll find some very friendly peeps with some pretty awesome sandblasted glasses…they even take custom orders.

There are also lots of other artisans like…Little Birdie Designs and her hip and stylish knits, fantastic art by a young man named Chris Deighan -come get his prints before he’s famous -I’m not kidding, he’s that good! You’ll also find some cool vintage treasures from, Suite 22, very hip vintage men’s clothes, shoes and ties from The Find and of course I should mention Carter Paige Vintage.

All of the people I talked with who experienced the Cleveland Flea for the first time Loved It! How could they not? After all, it’s lots of fun, you’ll find great treasures, unique gifts, meet lots of nice people, eat good food, and at the end of the day you’ll be able to treat your very patient, faithful dog to a great natural treat.

Since I know that this post has intrigued you and you don’t want to be the only one out of all your friends who hasn’t experienced the Cleveland Flea, here’s the scoop on the next Flea…
